PROLIXITY

A few years ago, I and a fellow ‘jobless’ friend were on differing sides as regards human routine. He felt people had really interesting lives, and I was of the rigid opinion that they didn’t. So we decided to go to a particular spot everyday and observe people (you see why I said we were jobless) and what we saw, shocked even me.

Everyone was going in circles, almost aimlessly…and we began to draw a pattern of individual people that we became familiar with, and could predict the time they would show up at certain spots and what they would do.
Only one person, broke the cycle!
Check your life…maybe the reason you’re feeling spent, is because of the redundancy of routine. Take yourself out. Go see a movie. Drive faster than normal. Complete a book. Tell your wife that the family is eating out tonight.
Do something different

LOVE

Matthew  8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.  8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Jesus breaks the law in his response in this exerpt; he touches a leprous man. The man is unsure of Jesus’ thoughts about him, but Jesus assures him by saying ‘I want to’. Jesus is not cajouled, he is not forced, he is not ‘oju aye‘ (of eye service) he wants to!

I suspect that if any man starts acting like Jesus now, we 21st century believers may still hurt him!
Here’s what we always miss out on; he touched the leper – someone considered unclean! I don’t understand this Jesus!

Don’t run away from that society reject…don’t run away from that person that the society as termed unclean. Don’t!

How will you ‘touch’ him if you do? How will you make him clean?

CLICHE

The word ‘social’ can be used to describe this decade (since 2010). Some of the major inventions that have raked in cash for the inventors have been the one that brought us together; the name for such inventions are Social Media Technology. WhatsApp, Facebook. Snapchat ati bebelo (etc.) (Did I leave out Instagram? God forbid that I commit high treason.)

Anyways these inventions are suggestive of a need (or phenomenon) in our world; collective acceptance. We (subconsciously or consciously,  in fact) want to be part of something. That’s a great thing o! But the wahala (problem) with being ‘part’ of something is that some times (not all the time) we loose our originality in the struggle for acceptance.
> You don’t have to be an entrepreneur or own your business; 9-5 job is not of the devil. Some people will have to do it, and be very good at it.

> You don’t have to use a large hall for your wedding reception; you can use church premises and save money.

> You don’t have to use Chicken for Christmas…fish is not a bad idea.
Ati bebelo(etc)
Find what works for you…listen to your inner witness and follow!

MOVE

2 Kings  7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?  7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.  7:5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
Go back and read the full story in your Bible; too much stuff to mine from the passage. However, I want to shine one of the treasures there, here. These guys had a decision to make; ‘stay and die’, ‘move and die’. Either way, death was inevitable. But if you observe closely, staying was a sure way of death while moving had a certain possibility of survival. So they decided to move.
Guess what?
What they feared, wasn’t even there!
Fear’s strategy is to paralyse you. Once you keep moving, you have won.

COGITATE

Generally speaking, every specie of animal is different in some way. Animals have some sort of defence mechanism; a way to keep from going extinct. The chicken (for example) lays plenty eggs and has sharp beak and claws. With these, she ensures that the next generation of fowls are born with the unequivocal responsibility of keeping the chicken race alive.

Man however, has no apparent defence mechanism of any sort.

We rarely reproduce in large numbers at once, our bones are not strong, we can’t outrun even a dog, we can’t fly, we do not have venom, we cannot camoflague, etc…

But the order of creation states that we (like every other creature) have some sort of ‘defence mechanism’. It doesn’t take long hours of observation to realise what this mechanism is.
We can think.
So, Think!

LOW

Luke  22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.  22:25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.  22:26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.  22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

Jesus here flips the tables, and makes it very clear the principle behind greatness. He says ‘to be the greatest, you must produce service’ most people read this, and miss out on the salient point he is making…Most people read this and not know that it is the principle to wealth!
As a business owner, you are in business to serve people. So if you want to be the greatest “Akara Seller” (for example), you must be the greatest ‘Akara Service Provider’ in your area. What are other Akara sellers not doing, do it! Smile more as you sell. Dress good. Clean your shop. Use air fresheners. Keep the Akara hot. Add bread to it. Add ketchup or sauce. Use Serviettes. Play soft music. Add home delivery. Yesso, untop Akara!
Before you know it, you will be the greatest among all the Akara sellers in your environment.
Now, I have given you the principle; apply it to what ever you are involved in!

REALITY

I remember the first time I saw a 3D display…It was with my friend Sola Alagbe; many of you have gone weary of hearing me mention that name. Well, that day I began questioning what ‘real’ really means.

So I began researching… You will not believe that in the early 19th century, the leading tech companies reviewed that the TV was the most ‘unnecesary invention of the 19th century’s, saying it would ‘phase out before the 20th century’s If we could ressurect them now, and put a 3D glasses in their face and maybe play ‘Beowulf’ for them, they might have a change of heart.

Once, men thought the earth was flat… Arcihmedes had been saying ‘no’ even in the face of the loudest & most credible voices.

Newtonian Physics says time is linear… Einstein says it is a helix. Einstein said this in the face of the loudest voices… Ati bebelo (etc)
PS: Stephen Hawkins is challenging many of Einstein’s deductions… Good news is, these challenges are suggestive of the fact that science (human civilization) is moving forward.
What’s your reality?

ADIYE (Chicken)

Why did the chicken cross the road? This was one of the most asked question line of the 80’s and arguably the most repeated question in stand-up-comedy of the 90’s. Now, many millennials do not know of these two amazing decades of the human existence, but the 80’s (in my opinion), was the prime-time of human existence. The 80s had Michael Jackson, Cool and The Gang, Tina Turner, Willie Willie etc… Boy!

Anyways, this post is not about that.
Questions are very important…They help us evaluate our reality, help us check our beliefs and help us connect with our deepest feelings. Albert Einstein, asked just one question ‘What would I see, if I could ride on a light beam, from source to earth?’ and the famous E=MC² (square) was born…That equation, was born of a question… A question that has changed our whole lives.
Ask questions… They are the bedrock on which geniuses stand to deliver the world its future.
Well, I don’t know why the chicken crossed the road… I guess it is because it could!

WORK

1 Samuel  21:6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.  21:7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.  21:8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.  21:9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
David is running for his dear life. He has no time to plan, no time to take even a spear! (that’s sign of haste for a Jewish warrior). Throughout his flight, he has to improvise as he goes. So, he gets to the temple and eats hallowed bread (improvisation for food) and then asks for a weapon. Guess what weapon he is given? The sword of Goliath!

Face your challenges squarely now…Face them head on. Your present day challenges, will prepare you for challenges that may come on you unawares.

David faced and killed Goliath!

Unknown to him, Goliath’s sword would come in handy in the not too distant future.

RE-WORK

So today, I happened to be driving across one of the finest road networks in Osun state. Here and there, I would catch myself staring at the beautiful work of art that simply starts off with something civil engineers refer to as ‘setting out’. This process is how builders mark out where they want any structure to lie…For roads, it involves where they want the road to lie, and what points they want the road to connect. From set-out to completion, everything follows strict guidelines hence the structural integrity of the road.

Looking at it today, I dunno but my mind quickly remembered a Stamford research on the brain and how our brain is simply a road map of neural patterns. Our brain is like land…Land that roads can be built on.
That realisation was just graphic to me.
So, if my brain (or mind) is a field of possibilities, I only need to build road networks into (or through) those fields.
Think on that a little
